Claire Eardley

Graduate Diploma (UK) Master of Manipulative Therapy

Claire graduated from Nottingham School of Physiotherapy in 1991 and worked in the NHS prior to emigrating to Perth in 1997. Claire undertook the Master of Manipulative Program at Curtin University in 2000, and worked in the Fremantle area until opening Silas Street in April 2004. Claire has a keen interest in neck and shoulder pain, and has a strong ‘hands-on’ approach to treatment. She also utilizes Acupuncture as a complementary therapy to treatment.

Emily Loughnan

BSc Physiotherapy

Emily completed her Physiotherapy degree at the University of Notre Dame Australia in 2009 before joining the team at Silas St Physio.

In her years of clinical experience, Emily has developed a strong interest in the management of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and sports injuries. With a personal background in competitive running and more recently triathlon, Emily has a keen interest in running-related injury. This interest was considerably developed during her time working abroad in London. From 2011-2013 Emily spent two years working in a central London private practice where she offered specific services for runners and triathletes looking to optimise running biomechanics for injury prevention and high performance. Emily has a strong interest in Clinical Supervised Exercise and specific exercise rehabilitation for conditioning, cross-training, injury prevention and general fitness. She is passionate about the importance of physical activity and self-management for athletes and non- athletes alike.

Grant Twentyman

Physical Education and Physiotherapy Degrees

Since completing his Physical Education and Physiotherapy degrees, Grant has had over 10 years experience in private practice in NZ and Australia. Grant has worked with elite rugby, tennis and netball players, including a role as team Physiotherapist for West Coast Fever here in WA. Grant has completed extensive clinical exercise training, in both the rehabilitation and fitness setting. He has obtained Full Certification through the highly-regarded Stott Pilates. Grant completed additional training in dry needling and finds this useful to restore patients’ muscle function and manage pain. Outside the clinic, Grant’s interests include keeping as fit as possible, time at the beach, and playing music.

Abe McPherson

Sport and Exercise and Physiotherapy Degrees

Abe completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Distinction from the University of Otago in New Zealand in 2018 after having also completed a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise majoring in Exercise Prescription from Massey University in New Zealand in 2013.

Since completing university, Abe has spent the previous 2 years working at Silas Street Physio + Pilates. Previously, Abe has gained experience in elite sport in New Zealand working as a sideline medic in a variety of sports and spent much of his spare time working as a Pilates instructor during his studies.

Driven by a personal sporting background, Abe is passionate about musculoskeletal physiotherapy with a keen interest in acute injury management, injury rehabilitation and movement biomechanics. Abe also enjoys working with patients to develop personalised programs to aid in improving own athletic performance.

A member of North Cottesloe Surf Lifesaving Club and Fremantle City Football Club, Abe enjoys Surfboat rowing and Football (soccer) and relishes the chance to push himself to achieve his own goals as much as he enjoys pushing his patients to achieve theirs!

Courtney Kranz

BSc Physiotherapy

Courtney graduated from Curtin University in 2014, with a Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy). During the last year of her study, she completed her Supervised Clinical Exercise training with STOTT Pilates (Matwork, Reformer, Chair/Cadillac/Barrel). Since then she has worked in Private Practice as a Physiotherapist and Pilates Practitioner, enjoying combining a hands-on and active rehabilitation approach. She also has training in Dry Needling.

Courtney commenced postgraduate studies at Curtin University in 2019, and is currently completing her Masters of Clinical Physiotherapy (Sports Major). In late 2019 she joined South Fremantle Football Club as their Colts Physiotherapist.

When she isn’t working, you can find Courtney at a Reformer class, sipping coffee (any new cafe recommendations her way please!) or cheering on her beloved Freo Football team!

Areas of interest:

  • Sporting injuries or rehabilitation (recreational or elite).
  • Hip and knee pain/injuries.
  • Post-operative rehabilitation (shoulder, hip and knee).
  • Anything and everything Clinical Pilates/Rehab.

Lizzie Edwards

Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Lizzie graduated with her Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Curtin University in 2018. Since completing university, Lizzie has spent 2 years working at Silas Street.

Lizzie’s main area of interest includes treating neck and lower back pain. Lizzie has also developed an interest in musculoskeletal and sporting injuries and has strengthened this through her involvement as the head physio at the North Fremantle Football Club.

Lizzie is passionate about exercise-based rehabilitation to improve general fitness and prevent injuries. She teaches regular supervised clinical exercise programs.

Lizzie loves working with people of all ages to help them lead a healthier and happier lifestyle!

Macy Sumich

Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Macy graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2022, joining the team at Silas St as a graduate.

Macy has a keen interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and is currently the head trainer at the South Fremantle Football Club. In this role, she has developed a focus on a timely return to high-level performance following injury and maintaining peak performance. Having had many experiences as a student, Macy has also developed an interest in treating women’s health.

As a keen Pilates goer herself, Macy enjoys all aspects of teaching clinical Pilates and is always looking for new exercises to incorporate into clients’ programs.

Outside of the clinic, Macy loves to catch up with friends over a walk or is often dining at new cafes and restaurants, she loves a good recommendation!

John Connelly

Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy)

John completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy with honours from the University of Central Lancashire in England back in 2020. Post qualifying, he worked in the National Health Service (NHS) working for Mersey Care NHS Trust at an MSK outpatient clinic for 18 months. He then worked in a state-of-the-art private Neurological rehab centre, treating patients with spinal cord and brain injuries.

Before moving to Australia in September 2022 he passed his physio equivalency exam to gain registration in Australia with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency). On arrival to Australia, he first worked FIFO in occupational health subcontracting for BHP, before moving on to a private practice here in Perth before joining the Silas St Physiotherapy team.

John comes from a sporting background, playing football (soccer) from the age of 5, playing for many semi-professional teams in England, USA, and Austria, as well as playing in the NPL here in Perth. He has now retired from football and enjoys weight training, mixed martial arts; mainly Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but also enjoys MMA.

Being a sportsman, John has a keen interest in rehabilitating athletes back to sport. He has a keen interest in treating and rehabilitating shoulder injuries consisting of; tears, degenerative, frozen shoulder, or muscular strains. He is also interested rehab of ligament or meniscus injuries. He is excited to join our team and looks forward to treating a wide range of patients!

Areas of Interest:

  • Knees – ligament tears/sprains or meniscus (cartilage) tears.
  • Shoulder injuries (tears, degenerative, frozen shoulder, muscular strains)
  • Rehab for athletes returning back to sport.

Dr Michelle Kendell

BSc Physical Therapy

Michelle completed her undergraduate physiotherapy degree at the University of Alberta in Canada. She completed her postgraduate degrees at Curtin University. Michelle has a special interest in treating spinal pain and uses a “hands-on” manual therapy approach along with education and exercise to empower patients to self-manage their condition. She also works as an Advanced Scope Physiotherapist in a Neurosurgery Spinal Assessment Clinic at a Perth public hospital and is a musculoskeletal physiotherapy lecturer at the School of Allied Health, Curtin University. She is involved in musculoskeletal pain research and has published a number of papers. She is a keen swimmer, volunteer surf lifesaver and enjoys spending time at the beach and travelling.

Jess Richards

Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Jess joined the Silas Street team at the end of 2023. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2022 and has since developed her love for musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

Jess has worked in the sporting area, and has over 8 years of experience with Australian Rules Football, working as a Head Trainer and Physiotherapist for Claremont Men’s and Women’s Football Club. This sparked her interest in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and movement and exercise as an intervention.

This lead to her completing a 500-hour clinical pilates course, and being a Pilates enthusiast herself, Jess loved all things Pilates and will seek to challenge you and get you feeling your best.

When Jess isn’t at the clinic, you could find her at the beach, down south, on a run or hanging out with her friends over a coffee or wine!
